Pastor Joseph Stevens

Pastor StevensPastor Joseph Stevens was born in Stuart, Florida, July 7, 1958. The fifth of six children. (Four boys and two girls) He gave his life to the Lord at an early age while still in high school. He was raised in the Church of God where his parents were once members. There were many preachers that help shape his life in the ministry. Pastor W.L. Hopkins, Pastor John Thorne, Evangelist Doris Dames just to name a few.

While helping with revival in Bimini, Bahamas, he met Sylvia Bain and later married her September 5, 1981. After being a lay minister doing street services up and down the east coast of southeast Florida for many years, he and his wife felt the call of God on an Abraham's journey to go to North Carolina. A place he has never been.

After coming to Goldsboro, North Carolina, God lead them to be under a ministry for a season. After 4 1/2 years, they were called out to began their own ministry, Deliverance Evangelistic Church of the Good Shepherd, Inc. was birth February 11, 2001. A year later he asked Bishop William Phillips of Word Faith Center to be a bishop to him feeling the need for one. This fellowship and friendship has continued since.

The ministry has gone from two families going from house to house to a 150 seat sanctuary. We are growing continually and looking to fulfill and complete the vision for this church, in the community and throughout the world.

Co-Pastor Sylvia Stevens

Co-Pastor Sylvia Stevens Co-Pastor Sylvia Stevens was born and raised in Bailey Town, Bimini, Bahamas August 20, 1958, the second oldest to three daughters. She was raised in a Catholic church. In her teenage years she received the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior. She met her husband who was visiting with his mother in the Lord in 1980. They were soon wedded September 5, 1981. The union produced three children.

After being led of the Lord with her husband, they moved to North Carolina in mid 1993. Shortly after beginning their ministry, their oldest son went to be with the Lord. As devastating as it was to their ministry and personal lives, it proved to be a test and a testimony  of the grace and mercy of God.

Since then it has straightened their faith and love for God and for each other. She is focused on her ministry in reaching the lost for Christ. She more determined now than ever to, "Do the works of Him that sent us while it is day, the night comes, when no man can work"
